Jonathon Paskow - RIP
October 20th, 2007 Gennaro Brooks-ChurchI watched my friend die a couple days ago. It was one of those moments when you feel so blessed to be alive. Not because this poor guy just died, but because you were allowed to witness it. It is times like this that you really realize what life is all about.
Firstly life is only half the story. THere is a whole other half after death. At LEAST HALF, probably more. THere is something after death. We as we know it in our lifetime are only experiencing a small part of our journey. Our life is a pitstop. It is so big only because we can’t reach our heads above the barnyard fence to see what is beyond. There is so much beyond that it would blow our minds. And that is why we are not built to see it.
Our limitation is our beauty. We are playing a game. It is called dress up as a dumb fuck and spend eighty odd years trying to figure out why you are wearing the stupid costume. Most of us don’t figure it out.
Most of us take it seriously. The truth is, though, that it is a costume. The only thing that really matters, really really deep down when all is said and done, the only thing that matters is that you wear your costume.
Nobody cares if you wear it well, or with success or for any length of time. Just wear your costume. And then you die and move onto the next trip, whatever it is, definitely something infinitely longer than the turd of a time you spend in this incarnation.
So what the fuck is your costume. Have you even taken a moment to stop and check what your costume is??????? Jesus man, think about it. The only thing you have to do on this earth is to wear your costume. What is your cortume??????? Nothing else is important.
THe irony is that we have not been endowed with very advanced self reflective capacities. So figuring out what we are meant to be on this planet isn’t exactly a walk in the park. In fact it can take a “lifetime” to finally see your own costume and by then it is too late, at least for you, but for the purposes of the universe you did just fine. Your costume was to be a dumb ignorant fuck who had no idea what you were meant to be.
I hope you get the joke. The only thing you have to do is wear your costume. And if you can’t figure out what your costume is then THAT IS your costume…wear your fumbling dumb lack of vision costume with all the integrity of a visionay, because you are actually contributing immensely to the universe. We need you.
And this is why I love religion. It clearly shows how we are all god’s children, that our imperfections, perfections, all of it - it is all a creation of the universal plan. Man what a relief! At least for me it allows me to pick my nose and eat it without any remorse whatsoever.
Now this does not allow me to molest my daughter or any other heinous thing, at least for me that is not gods plan. And I have no way of seeing how anyone’s costume could allow for crimes like that. But then I’m not god so I don’t pretend to understand the paradox of my paradox.
Here’s to you Jonathon Paskow. You were a father figure, a friend, a father in law, and your death taught me so much. I love you.
