Lets convict Bush for war crimes! It would be fun!

Bush and Co. is a criminal. That is pretty much accepted by the majority of US and the vast majority of the world. So let’s put him in jail. It would be so satisfying! It doesn’t undo the total carnage and waste he has laid on the world but it sure would be fun!

I mean other rulers get tried by the international tribunal. The only reason it is unthinkable that the president of the US should be tried and prosecuted is that we are still holding on to the outdated and probably never true belief that US leaders are morally correct leaders of the “free world”?

I’m not sure if you have used any of your senses in the past fifty years but if you had you would have noticed that the US has worked closely with and often funded many dictators. US money is behind many massacres in South America, the Middle East and beyond. We don’t exactly have clean hands. Despite the immense power the US has had that kept it above the law, we are slowly coming down and sooner or later the law will very much be on top of us.

It is not like the US is terrible. It is a great place and freedom is everywhere. The good life can be had. I live a great life. But the days where US foreign policy was one of world dominion are gradually waning. We will increasingly not be able to ride the backs of the rest of the world so we can enjoy our abundance and opulence.

Firstly they want the abundance and opulence too. And there just isn’t enough for all of us to live at that level. Secondly as they grow in power and we wane in power they have more ability to tell us how to live and not the other way around.

What will happen? I suspect we will meet in between. They will get more and we will get less. Which isn’t a bad thing. When you are living off two dollars a day it doesn’t take much to feel you are getting richer. And when you are living off the excessive fat of the land like most in the US do, it isn’t too painful to loose a couple pounds.

The truth is that despite the huge amount of consumption in the US, the is extreme poverty. This is because the resources are being mismanaged. Your typical obese poor person clearly shows that they do not lack for food. They simply lack for good, healthy food, which can actually be cheaper than the over packaged crap they consume.

The solution here in the US is to restructure the way we consume and what we consume so that it is less but of higher quality. And abroad other countries need to grow in that same direction instead of along the road the US has already traveled, which will get us all nowhere.

Anyway, I started this post because I wanted to share this news clip from MSNBC. I didn’t catch the name of the presenter in this clip but she is spunky and I like her style. Go Girl!
